Female drivers pay less insurance premiums

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

A recent study has shown that women are less likely to be charged with high car insurance premiums compared to male drivers.

Insurance companies cite that women tend to be more level headed – and less aggressive – than male drivers. They also tend to make more practical – thus cheaper – choices in cars, which in itself helps reduce car insurance premiums due to the lower maintenance and repair fees. Women are also less likely to be given a speeding ticket or get into accidents, owing to their higher concentration and attention to detail when driving.

This is not to say though, that men cannot avail of low auto insurance premiums, as long as they have a good driving history and practice defensive driving. As long as the driver is low risk and less likely to file insurance claims, then they can be given lower premiums.
